Vacation: Part 1

On July 10 - 22 I was on vacation with my best friend, Samantha, and her family. All of these pictures were taken in Ohio, except for the first. We drove to Joplin, Missouri the first night for her cousin's wedding.

We drove 14 hours the next day to Cincinnati, and went to the King's Island Amusement Park. I, sadly, didn't get any pictures there. We drove to Sandusky the next day, and spent 3 days there at Cedar Point Amusement Park. Easily the BEST park I've ever been to. It was very, very hot. Over 100 degrees every day, but it was still a blast. Some of the rides were right on the beach of Lake Erie.

On the week of June 22nd I went to Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas for Super Summer Church Camp. It was a blast! Regina and Jacqueline were the best roomies and I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Luckily, it's gone now. But I had in on there for about two weeks and driving up to school every day was a little embarrassing. Oh well, I'm sure it was inevitable!

Well, not much has happened here lately. School is almost over; only 6 more days!! Hopefully my chemistry final isn't too difficult. That's the only one I'm worried about. Then it's HELLO SUMMER! I cannot wait.

I got my first little dinger on my car about 3 weeks ago. I was pulling up to a QT to get gas and got just a wee bit too close to one of the yellow posts. It didn't dent the car or anything, just got a nice pretty yellow paint scrape on my front right bumper. Luckily, I have a magic man for a grandfather and he got some wax and wiped it off. They use super cheap paint on those things so it came off easily. Yay!!!

So sorry I haven't posted a blog in a while. Our computer screen broke about a week ago and there's no tellin when we'll get a new one. (I'm posting this blog from my phone.) So unfortunately, I can't post any pictures for a while. :(

BUT I will be turning sixteen in 3 short days!!! I'm so excited. My mom made the appointment yesterday: 8:15 AM on Monday morning I'm heading to the DMV to take my license test!!! I cannot wait.

Spring Break began today (Friday) for us because of parent-teacher conferences. Ryan has a baseball tournament this week starting on Monday so we'll be heading to the ball fields all week. Hopefully their games on Monday won't last too long :)

I don't think I mentioned this, but a couple of weeks ago I was voted Best All-Around for the sophomore class! I guess this is my year? Hah, anyway, I was very honored. :)

I can't believe it's already spring break! Where did February and January go?!

Sophomore Formal!

This day seemed like it lasted 1846385 hours, not 24! I had bought my dress in the middle of January, and the jewelry. I bought my shoes the night before (thank God that DSW had some cute heels!). I went to Joanie's and got my hair done at 2 PM. It turned out wonderful! And it only took an hour and a half! My mom did my makeup and my nails. My best friend (Samantha), her boyfriend & my really good friend (Luke), and I went to my boyfriend's house (Chase) to eat and hang out beforehand. And we watched The Lion King. An almost-17-year-old, 16-year-old, and two 15-year-olds really know quality movies. ;) Chase's mom took the pictures.

If you couldn't tell, I got bangs that day as well. I really like them!

Also, I was "crowned" as North Intermediate's queen for the sophomore class. :) I got a tiara and everything! (I will post that pic as soon as my mom uploads the pictures from her camera.) My friend Matt won king, and it was really great. The whole night was simply spectacular! :)

School was cancelled yesterday because of yet another ice storm that has blown through, so Jana, Megan, Liana, and I trekked to the movie theater and saw When in Rome. It was super cute, I recommend it. :)

Like the title? I thought it was PUNNY! Bahaha. Well, at the beginning of the week we heard that the lows for Thursday and Friday were in the negatives, as in -2 degrees! Crazy, right? So when Thursday night comes the phone rings, and it's SchoolCast saying there is no school on Thursday and Friday due to extreme freezing temperatures. Awesome!!! So I'm here on the laptop at home posting this blog while a million other kids are in school right now. Jealous?

It's Christmastime!

It truly is the most wonderful time of the year! I don't get into the Christmas spirit until after Thanksgiving, but I'm all into it now! This past week we decorated two Christmas trees (I only have a picture of the smaller one).

One of the churches in our area always puts on a huge light show for the whole month of December. They start stringing the lights before Halloween because there are so many trees! We took a drive through the lights last week as well.

For my National Honor Society, my best friend, Sami, and I went to bell ring in front of Walmart for the Salvation Army. It actually wasn't very cold, so it was fun!

Remember that Jesus is the reason for this season, and we are celebrating HIS birth this time of year :)

P.S. All my Texas family: We are coming down the weekend of the 18th! :)

This would be my first car!!! It's pretty much my baby. I never quite understood why some people are so attached to their cars...but I sure do now! It's an '05 white Mustang. I'm so thankful and grateful to my parents for letting me get it!

In the light of the holiday, I will list some of the numerous blessings the Lord has bestowed upon me.

First and foremost, thank you God for sending Your son, Jesus, to die for me. Without Him, I would not have the wonderful gift of salvation nor the promise of Heaven.

I have the craziest and most amazing family in the world. My loving and giving parents, insane little brother, even more insane little sister, two pairs of the most wonderful grandparents, awesome cousins, two aunts, two uncles, a number of second/third cousins, great uncles, great aunts...the list goes on and on. I am so thankful for each and every one of them. I love each one of you :)

My best friends. There's no way I could get through high school, let alone life, without y'all.

I don't know what I would do without music. God has blessed me with talents for it and I can't imagine my life without song, piano, or choir.

DC, Day 4

Our last day in DC :( It was extremely difficult trying to fit in everything we wanted to see because almost everything opened at 9 AM and closed at 5:30 PM, leaving not enough time to try and go to all these places. It was hard but I think we managed to get in everyone's favorites. Mine was the Library, Ryan - The White House, Mom - American History Smithsonian, Karis - Lincoln Memorial, and Mimi said she loved everything. At about 9:30 that morning we headed to the Air & Space Smithsonian. This was definitely Papa's favorite place. He loves to learn how everything works and the mechanics of machines.

I was so PROUD!!!

Everywhere we went Ryan had to have his picture taken sitting in a chair. So we have this shot duplicated (in different places) about 16326493984332 times.

After the Air & Space, Mimi and I went off on our own to look at the Smithsonian castle. The others took a cab back to the hotel to watch the football game.

After we walked around the castle, Mimi and I headed to the Natural History Smithsonian.

This is the Hope Diamond, the largest blue diamond in the world. This picture does not do it justice, it was absolutely beautiful.

They had an exhibit of gems in the museum, and I think I took a picture of every single one. But these were my favorite, Marie Antoinette's earrings.

Our flight home left at around noon the next day. We were sad to see DC go, but I was anxious to get home to my own bed and my own home. Our trip to DC was amazing, and it's up there with my trip to Disney World 3 years ago as my favorite. :)

DC, Day 3

Karis was feeling better on this day. Her temperature had gone was down and she was acting normally again. Still, my mom wanted to be safe and keep her in the hotel for at least half the day. While Mom and Karis were at the hotel, Ryan, Mimi, Papa, and I went out to the Capitol building and the Library of Congress.

I took ALOT more pictures of the inside of the Capitol, but the lighting was terrible and you can't really tell what anything is. The had a tunnel in the Capitol that took you to the Library, so we opted for that. Anything to stay out of the rain and cold.

Being the bookworm that I am, this was my absolute favorite place we visited in DC. Unfortunately, we couldn't take pictures in alot of places here either. :(

Mom gave the OK for Karis to leave the hotel, so the two of them met us at the American History Smithsonian. They had a cafeteria under the museum where we could eat lunch.

This place was absolutely amazing. We saw the flag that inspired our National Anthem (we couldn't take pics in there either!). I thought it was just the size of a normal American flag. Wrong! It's over 30 feet long! It took up the whole room.

DC, Day 2

On the second day, it was pouring down rain and the high was only 45. Karis was still very sick with a high fever, so she stayed at the hotel all day with Papa. Mom, Mimi, Ryan, and I went out into the rain, while the 3 of them donned ponchos. I was way too embarrassed to wear one! Haha.

It's no wonder that he is his father's son. :D

We walked around 15 blocks to the White House. I have never done that much walking at one time in my life. Most of it was uphill as well.

DC, Day 1

Thanks to this break from school, I have FINALLY been able to sort through all of my DC pictures and post them on here. We left right after school on October 13th and flew to Chicago O'Hare, then connected to DC. We got to our hotel around midnight. Needless to say, we were all exhausted and couldn't wait to start the next day.

We took a trolley tour around the city to look all around and decide where we really wanted to go while we were there. 5 days may sound like a long time, but there is SO much to see that it was impossible to fit everything in that amount of time.

We hopped off the trolley at the Lincoln Memorial. This day happened to be Karis's birthday, so she got to pick where we stopped that day. Without hesitation, she said she wanted to see Lincoln. I guess she must've learned some about him at school?...

Karis in front of Lincoln's statue. As you can probably tell by everyone's attire, it is freezing outside. The temperature never went above 60 degrees, which was NOT home weather. This was the only day that we saw a tiny bit of sunshine. It rained nonstop for the duration of our trip.

Our next stop was the Arlington National Cemetary. It was neat, yet sad at the same time. There are over 300,000 soldiers buried here, dating back to World War I.

We headed back to the hotel on the trolley, and by this time Karis was not feeling well. When we got back we found out she had a temperature of almost 103. She had a rough night.

Dodgeball tourney!

It's that time of the year where my youth group hosted the 2nd annual Dodgeball tournament! So, our grade got our BLACKOUT team together (same as last time, only one girl couldn't make it so we brought in another) and had to plan to make our "uniforms". We won best dressed last year, so we were hoping to be in the running for it this year as well! Although this time it was much messier... ;)

It was an insanely nice day, so while our shirts were drying we went for a swim...

And on to the tournament we went! Our team name is BLACKOUT (same as last time). I'm the A in the name, by the way. :)

We had alot of fun spelling words with the letters on our shirts...

Well, we got 2nd place just like last year. & best dressed, which we also won last year! We had a ton of fun and I love spending time with all these girls :)

This would be one of my favorite pictures I've ever seen. Sure, we want to win and compete, but the reason we are such great friends is because God brought us together. We live to glorify Him and thank Him daily for the friendships he has given us.

Well, September has for sure been on of the hardest months I've had in a long time. & it's only halfway over!

Negatives:

School is...really tough. I'm only taking 2 advanced classes, instead of the 4 they offer, and even with my two regular classes I feel like I'm drowning in schoolwork. English is usually my best subject, and I have absolutely no problem with it. But this year? No. I'm getting a B right now, and that's alot of time and effort put in to getting that B! Ugh, and don't get me started on Algebra 2. I'm failing at the moment. For any of you that have known me for ANY amount of time, you know that I simply just don't fail classes. Well, I am right now. I'm borderlining a D, and if I get good grades on the past couple homework assignments, I'll get it up to a 60. It's stressing me out.

On the positive note:

Chemistry I'm doing surprisingly well in. I have an A! I thought it was going to be sososo difficult, but I actually get it! AND I got my driving permit on Tuesday! Which means I will be able to get my license on my birthday :) :) :) I passed the test by only missing one question (there's no actual driving test required to get your permit, it's a 20 question test on a computer) and it only took me about 5-10 mins. Getting the actual permit at the tag agency took longer, hah! So, I'm very happy about that, and I'm glad staying up til 11:30 the night before reading the manual paid off! :D

All I can ask is that if you could say a little prayer for me and my schoolwork, I'd really appreciate it. I didn't know sophomore year would be this hard. Hopefully things will start looking up from here. :)

Oh, and also the doctor called and said my heart monitor scans were fairly normal, and he doesn't think my heart is the problem. *sigh* I kinda wish they could just figure out what is wrong, cus this blacking out and fainting stuff gets really annoying, really fast. Frustration!

I'll post something soon, when my life doesn't revolve solely around school anymore!

If you live anywhere around BA you know that our rival team is Union high school. So what happens to be the 1st high school football game of the season? You got it! Union was home this year so I made the 20 minute drive with some friends to watch the game in the visitor student section (sold out too!). BA ended up losing, but I still had a ton of fun.

I went to the doctor on Monday to have my EEG test done and recieve my holter monitor. The EEG went well, nothing affected me in a weird way so I'm pretty sure my brain isn't the problem. I've been wearing my holter monitor for about 51 hours out of the 72 it records. I'm SO ready to get this dang thing off. It's held on with them extreme gauze-like tape and it itches like no other. It seems like I'm allergic to it, but probably not. It's hard to sleep at night cus of the uncomfortableness the itching causes. But, tonight will be my last night to wear it, so thank God for that :)

Something has to go wrong at some point

Karis had insane allergies, Ryan had a ruptured spleen...guess it's my turn to be in the medical spotlight! As long as I can remember I've been prone to dizziness. Not just when I get up too fast (although that happens alot) but at random times I'll start getting dizzy. Over the past year it's been getting worse, and I actually passed out around April from being so dizzy. Over the summer I passed out 4 or 5 times and had MANY close calls. I was in Driver's ed this past Sunday and I literally lost my hearing and broke out into a cold sweat. My lovely mother said that was the last straw, and took me to the doctor.

For those of you who don't know, I absolutely with a PASSION hate going to the doctor. Although, my records said that this was my first visit in seven years! Praise God I've been healthy!

Okay, back on track...they drew blood (my first time, by the way! no passing out or fainting!) to check if I'm anemic and gave me an EKG. The lab results came back today and my blood checked out normal. I'm going back to the doctor on Monday to get an EGG (brain scan) and they're going to give me a heart monitor, which I have to wear 24 hours a day for 4 days. I do not want to wear it to school, but I don't have a choice.

I'd really appreciate everyone's prayers, cus I'm kinda freaking out about this!

Chick Chat - Cooking!

Another girl's thing at my church. The student pastors held a meeting for the parents, and we all cooked & prepared lunch for them. It really was alot of fun, just goofing off with my friends in fellowship. I chopped onions & I have a newfound respect for my mother, they really do make you cry like no other! It was a great service to our church and I was happy to do it. I love my church girls! :)

Back to School

I don't have any pics to post on this one, just info! Haha, so apologies up front. Well, the fourth day of school was today. I don't know why, but sophomore year seems SO much easier than freshman. Maybe it's just me. The classes seems to go by faster too. The year has started off great. I'm ready for morning worship to start tomorrow! (we gather in a classroom and 2 of my friends bring their guitars and we sing praises to start off the day, and it's amazing how well my day goes afterwards!) Also, I've got FCA & Student Council starting up, which'll be fun. That's just a quick update on school, I won't bore with the teenage details! ;)

Summer: It Came and Went

Well, another summer has come to an end for me. It was a great one, and I've made many great memories over the past two and a half months.

School starts tomorrow, and surprisingly, I'm excited about it. I'm ready to get back into a routine and see all my friends. Also, I'm pretty stoked that it's my sophomore year! No more freshie time!

Schedule this year? 1st hour -Show Choir, 2nd hour -Advanced Chemistry (scary!!!), 3rd hour -US History, 4th hour -Law (random class, I know), 5th hour-Advanced English 10, 6th hour -Algebra II. As you can see above, I'm pretty nervous about chemistry. I've heard it's pretty tough. And I really didn't mean to take Law, but the class I wanted was full, so I had to pick something else. It's just a semester class so I'm not worried about it.

So, last year I didn't want a backpack. My locker was pretty small, & I didn't think I'd need it. WRONG! I carried my books and binders and other junk in my arms day after day after day...it got very tiring. I went to Famous Footwear last week (got some shoes, yay!) and I saw this backpack on sale for $7:

It's super cute! Haha. Well, wish me luck on my first day of 10th grade tomorrow! It's gonna be a fantastic year. :)

P.S. Ryan is starting 8th grade, last year at his middle school. & Karis is starting 1st grade, her first year of elementary school!

At Main Event!

Super Series World Series 2009

These boys played better than I've ever seen them play this past week. They went undefeated in the tournament! They run-ruled every game except the championship one. They hit well, fielded well, and worked together great as a team. Here are the scores from the games (they played Sunday - Friday, excluding Wednesday):

13-3, 18-6, 16-4, 16-0, 13-1, 14-4, 7-6

The championship game was quite a nail-biter. We had played the team 4 or 5 teams in our league tournaments, and had never lost to them, but this game they came playing harder than ever. The game must go through 7 innings, and in the bottom of the 7th we were tied, 6-6. We were the home team, so we just had to score ONE run and the game would be over. The first batter out in the inning (Mason #22) hit a walk-off homerun on the very first pitch! Everyone was ecstatic and the boys couldn't believe what had just happened. They came in 4th place last year in this same tournament, and to win it was a great achievement for them!

This was their last season as a team, because in 8th grade the boys start playing for the school. It was a great way to end the season and 3 years as a team. I love all these boys and I'm going to miss them SO much.

Colorado - Thursday

Two of the boys on the team happen to have siblings around the same age as me, Ginger & Brady :) We've known each other since the team started 3 years ago. We have so much fun around each other and goof off SO much when it comes to long distance baseball tourneys. Thursday was Ginger's 18th birthday, so we went out to eat that night after all the games were finished.

Every year, the tournament gives the boys an off-day to goof off. Following suit to last year, the whole team bought tickets to the Rockies v. Diamondbacks baseball game. The whole team got to walk around Coors Field. It was pretty hot that day, but the boys had alot of fun.

Colorado - Tuesday

So I'm starting off with all the sightseeing we did in Colorado, then I'll get to the entire reason we were there - BASEBALL! On Tuesday we went to the Royal Gorge bridge with a family who we are great friends with. We rode a sky tram across the gorge and walked over the bridge. The view was spectacular!

This rainbow was SO bright, you could see every color. A few minutes later a second one showed up right next to it. Just a reminder that God always keeps his promises and He will never fail us :)

Piano Update

So, I've been taking piano lessons for about 9 weeks now. I already knew how to read music, it was just a matter of taking that knowledge and putting it to my fingers. Right now I'm working on these two pieces:

Titanic: my favorite movie

Phantom: my favorite musical

Chick Chat, 80s night

Once a month my church has a special Friday night just for the girls. This month we were supposed to dress up in 80s workout attire (I wore a baggy sweatshirt, black tights, red shorts, slouchy socks, my hair in a HIGH side ponytail, complete with bright blue eyeshadow and pink lipstick)! Getting the clothes was a ton of fun, and so was seeing what everybody else came up with! The lesson was about protecting ourselves physically & spiritually. We had a self-defense instructor come and show us some stuff, which was great!

Winshape Kid's Camp!

This past week I volunteered at my church for their summer kid's camp. The kids were split up into 3 big groups, and I had 3rd & 4th graders. Our group name was the SAFARI! :D The kids were so entertaining and it was awesome serving the Lord by just spending time with them. The only downside to it was I had to be at the church every morning at 7 AM. I usually went to bed about 10:00 every night that week! I got really attached to a few of the girls and it was sad leaving them. Here are some pictures from the camp :)

These 3 boys cracked me up ALL the time, especially the one in the middle. His name is Micha. He always had something crazy to say and he definitely made my week so much more fun.

I helped out with a photography class as well and here are some of the pictures I took. They're amateur, but helping the kids was great.

July 6th - 10th :)

4th of July

Our Fourth of July was quite eventful! It downpoured for most of the morning that day, but we just figured God was dampening up the ground to keep us safer from fires and such :) Karis, Ryan, Mom, Jay, and I lit fireworks in the backyard for a couple of hours.

Earlier in the day Mom, Karis, and I made festive cookies & pretzels.

They turned out great! The holiday was alot of fun getting to spend time with my family.

Jonas Brothers Concert

Monday night me, Karis, my mom, my aunt, and my younger cousin went to see the Jonas Brothers concert and the new BOK Center. It was an AMAZING concert & of course, Nick and Joe are gorgeous! :) We sat about 10 or 11 rows down from the very top, but my mom's camera has a fantastic zoom on it, so we were able to get some really good pictures:

Yes, that's a trampoline in the middle! Joe is jumping over a mic stand, but you can only see his feet cus the lights got in the way.

Nick :) This was my favorite part. He had a beautiful white grand piano in the center of the stage and played a few songs by himself.

I'm back!

So, I changed my email address one day, thinking nothing would go wrong...well I sign back in the next day and everything from my last blog was deleted! I finally got on to update the new blog, and I promise I'll start uploading frequently! Pictures from the activities of summer are taken, and I'll put them up tonight or tomorrow.
